Kona Airport:

The Keahole-Kona International Airport (code KOA) has direct flights to, and from, many mainland destinations as well as Japan. Direct flights are also available to the islands of Maui and Kauai, but inter-island transfers to Kona, through Honolulu, are still required and are scheduled less frequently from these islands.

Inter- Island Airlines:

Two inter-island airlines (Aloha Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines) provide connecting flights to the Big Island from Honolulu. If your initial destination point is Honolulu, or any island other than the Island of Hawai’i, please remember to make an additional reservation for a connecting flight on one of the inter-island carriers.

Inter-island seats fill up quickly. Make your reservations early. Please do not wait until you arrive in Honolulu to secure the inter-island portion of your trip to the Big Island.

Free transportation via the Wiki-Wiki Shuttle Bus is available between the main and inter-island terminal at the Honolulu airport. It is important to leave a minimum of two hours between your arrival in Honolulu and your departure for Kona to accommodate added security measures and to transfer to the inter-island terminal.

The FAIRMONT ORCHID, at Mauna Lani is a 40 minute drive from the Keahole-Kona International Airport. The hotel does NOT have its own shuttle bus transportation.
Taxis and Speedy Shuttles are available at the airport.

Rental Cars:
The following rental car agencies operate out of the Keahole-Kona Airport:

Speedi Shuttle
To reserve a speedy shuttle, go to: http://speedishuttle.com/
Click on the Big Island of Hawai`i
Click on “Reserve your Airport Shuttle”
Enter your information in the online form
The Conference Venue is the Fairmont Orchid, Hawai`i
Phone: 1-877-242-5777 (Toll-free U.S. and Canada)
or 808-242-7777
Fare: Approximately $50.93 one way + baggage charge
(shared van with others)

Visa Information
International conferees must go through customs and immigration at the point of entry into the United States. Please inquire early about visa requirements to visit the United States from your local U.S. embassy or consulate. For general information on U.S. visa requirements, go to the U.S. Department of States Web site.
We are advising anyone who may need a visa for the attendance at the 2007 APS Meeting, to apply early, at least three months in advance. Security-related policies have greatly increased the processing time for visa applications. U.S. consular officers are now interviewing most applicants as part of the application process. Information on locating an embassy may be obtained at www.embassyworld.com
